There is an old military saying that the Generals are always planning to fight the next war with the tools and strategies for the past war. McCain's mindset is one of the old Generals. His "surge" strategy is proof of that. All the extra troops did is cause the terrorists to regroup elsewhere -- a well known guerrilla warfare tactic. So I conclude that we really do not want McCain to be the Commander in Chief. The next question, is Obama qualified? As against McCain and Paulin, YES!
Barack Obama has a very disciplined mind. He is careful in the ideas he expresses and in his choice of word. While his delivery is a bit uneven, he gets quality ideas before the public -- the first step. The second aspect of Obama is that he listens respectfully and with full attention. The debates prove that. He is intellectually honest. His training as a lawyer and work in the poverty regions of Chicago makes him academically as well as "street smart". Since most of the fighiting is urban warfare, we want a "street smart" person leading the Americans.
I've served in the USAF active reserve for 6 years and earned Staff Sergeant stripes; I have some idea of the military and the top down approach pretty much does not work. I found out that there are TW0 Air Forces, the one on paper (top down) and the real one on the ground, generally run by the Sergeants who actually got the job done. So, "Mr. Top Down McCain" just confirms my fears that he will choose a really bad course of action to "win the war' in Iraq, when we really need to "win the peace". See my article, HOW TO WIN THE PEACE IN IRAQ.
I want Obama as Commander in Chief who is cool, calm and collected as McCain is not. I read where John “George” McCain has an anger control problem. We sure don't need a C in C who flies off the handle. McCain will only get more Americans killed. What scares me the most is that if McCain should die in office or resign, Paulin would be our commander in chief - THAT is really scary. The killing of Iraqi civilians has only embittered the folks of Iraq and the Middle-east in general.
We have no real choice but to elect Barack Obama our next President.
